Contemplating His Future

TERRY ECHTINAW from Kalamazoo

He feels that the poor and the homeless are being abused by the government and the courts. He feels that he has been held back by everything. He feels the "Ministry With Community" is doing a good job in caring for the poor.

Terry wants to start a new life doing sculptures out of toilet paper. He will use his own secret formula.

In this painting, I show Terry in an environment of stone and mortar railroad tracks, telephone and electric lines, business ñ all symbolic of society that seems to have passed him by while he was being held back. He is sitting in a position which shows him looking away from all of this, with one foot off the canvas. He is ready to step out into a new life that he says God has planned for him.
